The General Purpose Labs which are basically served by the PC server and has links to the various Host machines, will be opened to all SIT students, both for lessons and free access.

The Special-purpose Labs and DMDC will only be opened to those students taking the relevant modules. These labs desktops might not be able to access the PC server for the general computing applications, e.g. Word Processing, C++ programming etc.

Bookings must be done thru the PC booking system for the use of the free access PCs in the labs

These facilities will be progressively equipped with the latest network and computer equipment systems to serve the School’s teaching and students’ learning needs.

INTERNET SERVICES

Internet Services is available to students at all Labs.Users must follow the NYP's Internet usage policy STRICTLY.

Re-mote Dial-in Access

Student can dial in from home through the 30 - hunting line with the proper client software installed .

Students are allowed to get connected to the internet for 1 hour per session and a monthly quota of 10 hours

Services avaiable are internet access and e-mail checking

The dial in number is 6550-1700.

T - Loan of Resources

3rd year students are allowed to T-loan equipment and software with the support from their lecturer and the approval from MISG Manager. Their Lecturer will have make requested via loan web site.

For a current listing of the equipment, software and applications available for loam - including CD-ROM, training videos and Computer-Based-Training titles, please check with help desk.

All loan items must be returned on the same day before the closing of the help desk service. Failing to do so may result in the revoke of loan privilege for up to a period of 6 months.
